I passed the CA bar exam (February 2026) after failing the July 2025 exam. I am a licensed attorney barred in Minnesota. Prior to the 2025 test, I had signed up for BarMax bar exam test prep course, and it prepared me well for the MBE (I achieved a passing score) but I didn’t adequately prepare for the essays.

When I decided to retake the exam, I signed up for a tutor who provided invaluable guidance on essay structure and advice on the subject matter areas to study (shout out to Melissa!). Having a tutor kept me accountable to do practice essays, and helped me to study in the most efficient and effective way. Celeste and Melissa provided great guidance that helped make the difference. I was able to pass while having a full-time job, 4 kids and being 20 years removed from law school. Thanks BarMax!

I passed on my first attempt after taking a 25 year hiatus from the law!
BarMax provides concise, easy to use materials for a very reasonable price. There are literally decades of past MEEs and MPTs with both NCBE answers and test taker sample answers all in one place. Additionally, they had over 1300 actual MBE questions including the illusive CivPro MBE questions that has only recently been added.

Fantastic program.
I am about three weeks into the program. The lessons are structured and scheduled in a very reasonable order to ensure success. The pedagogic choices are very well thought out. They have a good sense of when a subject is going to need extra attention and when not to belabor a point. The explanations and lectures are clear and bolstered by practice questions you do independently after the lesson.

I took the bar exam a total of 4 times and passed on my 4th try thanks to BarMax and especially my tutor, Emily Morgan. Each time I retook this exam, my confidence was crushed. I was in a position where I kept getting the same score for each attempt. I thought I could assess my weaknesses on my own but I truly needed someone to help me understand my thought process.
