Please can you explain why C is wrong

I had my answers narrowed down to C and D but technically they both could be right or am I mistaken? Answer Choice D- if anyone can effectively address the difficult issues facing the country, that person must be younger than sims. Answer choice C- some young people can effectively address the difficult issues facing the country. Well if D is the answer we know the person has to be younger than Sims. For example if sims is 70 years old all we know from answer D is that they have to be younger than 70 which means C is also correct as if for example one of the younger person in answer choice D is 18 years old (since it doesn't say how much younger) then we can also say some young people can effectively address the difficult issues facing the country. Please explain....

Hi @timothy, thanks for your post. Let's look carefully at what Rotelle says.

R says to S: "You [i.e., Sims] are too old to address effectively the difficult issues facing the country, such as nuclear power, poverty, and pollution."

Please notice - Rotelle does NOT say that any specific group of people CAN effectively address these issues. Rotelle is only presenting her view that ONE SPECIFIC PERSON (i.e., Sims) is too old to do so.

This is why (C) is wrong. It is not actually textually supported by what Rotelle says.

Hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
