Why is the answer E?
I thought the author did question the morality of the economic situation by the last sentence "The moral is clear: a country can no more live without foreign trade than a dog can live by eating its own tail." Is this not a statement whether or not the U.S is moral or not when it comes to living with or without foreign trade? Being ethical is relating to moral principles, the author states that there is some sort of morality when discussing whether or not the U.S can live without foreign trade. Help, I chose answer choice D.

morality isn't quite related to ethics. you are right the principle is moral, but no where in the passage does it state any rules or regulation of any code of conduct.
