Identifying parts of the passage

I did correctly identify the role of the land-dwelling creatures with scales portion of the question, however I am having trouble identify the different parts of the argument here. It seems more like a set of facts. Am I correct in this? If not, could you please help me identify the different portions of the argument. Thanks

Hey @21mhunter21, thanks for your post. There is actually a conclusion in this stimulus: the writer here says that other biologists "rightly reject" the suggestion that the capacity for flight first developed in marine reptiles. Thus, we know that the writer of the stimulus does not believe that the capacity for flight first developed in marine reptiles.

You are asked only to describe the role played in the passage by the claim that "non-marine reptiles have scales." This claim is presented "as evidence against the claim that the capacity for flight first developed in land-dwelling animals."

Hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

for this question I think the below is incorrect. The answer is A. However, Mehren typed B as the answer. The book says otherwise. Please advise.

Mehran, will you please explain why this could not be A?? I am not understanding that. Thanks.

Mehran's reply below says, "This claim is presented 'as evidence against the claim that the capacity for flight first developed in land-dwelling animals'" which is answer choice B.

Answer choice A says "It is cited as evidence against the claim that the capacity for flight first developed in marine reptiles.'"

Is this just a typo or is the correct answer "...land-dwelling animals."?
