Example #4

Example #4: “By that period, however, Greek cities all had marketplaces, or agorae.“ In the video explanation I see this: GC ===> MP Not MP ===> Not GC But... If “all" introduces a sufficient condition, shouldn’t this be the correct setup: MP ===> GC Not GC ===> Not MP Please help Mehran :)

@sarahshirkey happy to help! What is your question?

Hi, I look at the part of the sentence that precedes "all" to indicate that GC is my sufficient condition, giving us GC ==> MP.

In your setup (MP ==> GC) you're making the "All vegetables are carrots" mistake. We can't conclude that all Market Places are Greek Cities from the passage.

Hope this helps!

Hmm so the sentence should be read as "All Greek cities had marketplaces" rather than the original "Greek cities all had marketplaces" which the test makers probably switched to confuse us? Interesting.
