Hi, could you also explain why A isnt correct?

@melissakaijukags of course! Let's break it down.

"Some twentieth-century are is great art."

20thA-some-GA

"All great art involves original ideas . . . "

GA ==> OI
not OI ==> not GA

" . . . any art that is not influential cannot be great art."

Not I ==> not GA
GA ==> I

This is a Bizarro Must Be True question, so the four incorrect answer choices must be true, while the correct answer choice is not necessarily true.

(A) follows logically from the following:

GA ==> I
GA ==> OI

Remember, we can convert an S & N statement into a some statement (assuming the existence of the sufficient condition).

So we can convert either one of these S & N statements into a some statement as follows:

I-some-GA

We can then combine with the other S & N statement as follows:

I-some-GA ==> OI

To conclude:

I-some-OI (i.e. "Some influential art involves original ideas.")

So (A) must be true and (A) would be eliminated.

Hope that helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions.
