I don't understand how the solution to number 4 is possible because one of the rules in the setup is that GE have consecutive grades, so how can G=A and E=C. Those are not consecutive...

its because GE aren't consecutive, GP are.

@Crystal, @rweyer is correct. G & P are consecutive, with G being higher than P. So you get G - P - E.
