Sure, see if this helps. Not all house cats are calicos. All house cats are mammals.
A: Not all calicos are mammals.
B: Not all mammals are calicos.
C: No mammals are calicos.
D: No calicos are mammals.
E: No valid conclusion.

Does that help clarify?

I got this daily drill incorrect, so I really want to go over it in depth if I may!

^the answer is B) Not all mammals are calicos? Is that correct?

Because;

Not all house cats are calicos translates to:

house cats - some - not calicos
Or
Not calicos - some - house cats

And all house cats are mammals
Which translates to

house cats -> mammals

And so the correct inference would combine them, as in:

Not calicos - some - house cats -> mammals

So not calicos - some - mammals
Or
Mammals - some - not calicos

And that conclusion correctly translates to:

Not all mammals are calicos right?
So B) is the correct answer?

and A) is not the correct answer because:

not all mammals are calicos
(mammals - some - not calicos)
is not the same thing as:

[even though these variables are in a SOME statement, they cannot just be reversed without carrying over the negation of calicos, that’s probably what I overlooked when I got this wrong at first]

Not all calicos are mammals
(Calicos - some - not mammals)

If possible, please let me know if my reasoning is correct and the answer to Anita’s problem is really B, thank you.
