Why not cannot be true?

I was debating between not necessarily true and cannot be true....why is the correct answer not necessarily true better than cannot be true?

Hi @sharpen7, thanks for your post.

When something "can be inferred," it means it "must be true." The logical opposite of "must be true" is "not necessarily true." So if the question stem asks you "each of the following can be inferred EXCEPT," it means that the correct answer choice is "not necessarily true."
