Confusion on the Diagram

Why wouldn't you diagram the first premise (No small countries and no countries in the southern hemisphere have permanent seats on the United Nations Security Council): notSC & notSH -> PSUNSC notPSUNSC -> SC or SH

Hi there, thanks for your post.

Remember the rule for diagramming a "no" statement: (1) "no" denotes the sufficient condition, and then you (b) have to negate the necessary side.

So "no small countries and no countries in the southern hemisphere have permanent seats on the UN Security Council" is properly diagrammed as:

SC (small countries) & SH (southern hemisphere) ==> no PSUNSC (no permanent seat)

CP: PSUNSC ==> not SC or not SH

Hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
