S&N indicator

I am wondering what the S or N indicator word was that allowed Naz to diagram the second sentence in answer choice a. It says, Since the paintings to be auctioned next week are by a wide variety of artists... what am I missing here? I do not see a sufficient or necessary word indicator here? And if there really isn't one, how do you know how to diagram that part of a sentence?

Hi @Margaret, thanks for your post.

There is no specific "indicator" word in the sentence "Since the paintings to be auctioned next week are by a wide variety of artists . . ."

But you can think of this phrase as "All the paintings to be auctioned next week are by a wide variety of artists," if that helps.

And the statement can be diagrammed as ANW ==> WVA (if auctioned next week then wide variety of artists).

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Phrases similar to "since no one who enjoys a wide variety of foods prefers bland foods" appear throughout the questions. If the "no one who" or "nothing" appears, do we negate the sufficient or necessary part of the diagram? Thanks again!
