Answer choice A reads, "The new test identifies genetic material from Salmonella organisms only and not from similar bacteria."

What they mean by this is that the test that finds the genetic material similar to all Salmonella strains only can identify that for Salmonella, not for any bacteria similar to Salmonella.

This is not the correct answer, as we are only trying to identify Salmonella, not similar bacteria, so whether it finds similar bacteria is irrelevant.
