The Word Usage: Comet
Hi,
I was between answer choices A and E for this question. Since answer choice E included the word "comet" and not "astroid" I did not choose E.
Would a comet still impact the earth as an astroid would?
How should I adjust my approach when comparing word usage?
Thank you,
Emily Menendez

Please not that the author's objection to the second explanation is as follows (beginning on line 59): "But theories that depend on extraterrestrial intervention seem less convincing than theories like the first,"
Answer choice E cites comets as the cause of a major event. Comets, like asteroid, are forms of "extraterrestrial intervention" so the author's objection applies to both.
