Sufficient and necessary diagramming
So I understand that we're supposed to diagram the arguments and answers in order to understand the q n as but because of how long it takes will this actually translate to the test?

No, you are definitely not expected to diagram every single logical reasoning question on a real test. I would use diagrams only for questions where you have trouble following the logic otherwise or for formal logic question types. The more you practice, the more intuitive it will become when it makes sense to use the diagrams.
