Timing

Hello, I have a quick question about timing. Giving the large amount of S & N conditions within this passage, it is unlikely that anyone diagramming all the conditions can answer the question within 1:20. With that said, do you suggest we don't diagram all the S & N conditions? Or do we go over the 1:20 allotment, and attempt to make up the time on other questions?

I wish someone would answer the timing question as I'm assuming it affects many

Hi @Nicholas-Badalamenti, great question. I would suggest diagramming S & N conditions whenever you need to. In this particular question, the test writers throw a lot of S & N conditions at you, but only one of them matters in order to correctly answer the question. When I answered this question, I diagrammed all of the S & N conditions, but it did not take long to do so because of having a fluent understanding of how to translate them fast. I think you would benefit immensely from some S & N condition drilling, as it'll give you more speed and confidence in these types of questions.

This particular question can be answered in under 1:20 if you develop the ability to quickly map S & N conditions. In order to hone your diagramming skills, I suggest drilling S & N questions and reviewing our curriculum to gain fluency with the concept. The more comfortable you are with diagramming S & N scenarios, the faster you'll be able to 'map' these conditions out. As it stands in this question, if salaries kept pace, then the only S & N condition in which we see this is in the third statement, Not Affordable - > /Salaries kept pace. Taking the contrapositive, we have Salaries kept pace - > Affordable, which leads us to the correct answer (C).

Regarding timing, you'll likely find on practice tests that some questions will go much more quickly than others. Ideally, you'll answer the easier questions well under 1:20 to give you additional time for the ones you find more challenging.
