Thanks for your question @Boram

Lines 5-9 describe a "familiar" attitude whereby a novel which is too entertaining is seen as low-brow. Rather, a serious novel should be a little bit dull or hard to read.

Answer choice (C) is tricky because its utilizing a lesser-known definition of the word "divert." Here "divert" means to entertain or to amuse.

So we can read answer choice as "A truly great work of literature should place demands upon its readers, rather than amuse them."

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions.

wow. I got that question b/c I lived in Brazil for a while and in Portuguese the word for fun is
"diversão". I remember when I learned the Portuguese word I connected it with the English word "divert" and I so I looked it up in the dictionary and sure enough, divert can also mean to amuse or have fun. LSAC is tricky!!
