I think there is a mistake. Why does the explanation use variables A and B as the first premise?

You're right—there's a typo here. Great catch, and thank you for

The explanation should read like this:

P: B - >C
not C - >not B

P: D-some-B
B-some-D

C: C-some-D
D-some-C

D-some-B - >C

D-some-B is the missing premise
