I would love to know why "c" is not the answer

Hey there,

The statement is

"The only people for me are the mad ones."

'The only' introduces the sufficient condition, so we have

people for me - >the mad ones

The contrapositive is

not the mad ones - >not the people for me

In looking at the answer choices, (B) has exactly what we mapped out.

(B) says PFM - >M

PFM is an abbreviation of 'people for me' and M is an abbreviation for
'the mad ones.' This exactly matches our diagram, so it's the correct
answer.

The key to getting this question right is remembering that 'the only'
always introduces sufficient conditions.

You asked about (C). Let's take a look.

(C) says not PFM - ->not M

(C) is incorrect because it is incorrectly negating both the
sufficient and necessary conditions of the statement. As we mapped out
above, the statement is

PFM - ->M

This has a completely different meaning from not PFM - ->not M

Do you see how it's wrong now? It's negating both the sufficient and
necessary conditions of the statement for no reason.

Let us know if you have any more questions!

When you say sufficient, it seems like the qualifying condition is to be mad. However, it seems like the sufficient condition is the stand alone statement "people for me." is this correct?
