Tom

Hello, I am confused why Tom could not be there on the 3rd and 5th day? In the first question, it is clear he can possibly fit on the 3rd day alongside Henry. Thank you!

I'm also confused by Tom was excluded. Based on our original setup we determined that U cannot be third. however, Tom can go in both 3rd and 5th.

@jiselyonaira,

Per the initial setup we have determined that:

G is 1 v 2
J is 1 v 3
S is 4 v 5
U is 5 v 6

/J /U /U
/G /G /J /S /S
___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___
1 2 3 4 5 6

Let's see what happens if T goes #3 or #5:

T is #3:

J G T H S U
___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___
1 2 3 4 5 6

This looks fine.

Now let's try T is #5:

G H J S T U
___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___
1 2 3 4 5 6

This setup clearly violates rule (1) - J > H meaning it is impossible for T to go on day 5.

Does this make sense?

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Janet must be on one or three, not two.
