Linear Games Questions - - Question 2

Who was hired on the fourth day of hiring?

Lizkringer June 24, 2019

I think it's E...

I keep coming up with B as 4th day hire more so than E which would be 4th person hired. I/F were both hired on the same day then d then E... so E is 4th person but not 4th day .... I'm confused

E as in answer A....

Hi @Lizkringer,

Thanks for the question! We're told in the stimulus that there are nine new workers: BCDEFGHIJ. We know that two pairs of workers (FI and CG) were hired on the same day; everyone else was hired on another day. This means that there were a total of 7 days of hiring. Then, the rest of the clues allow us to make a sequence that looks like the following, with each slot representing a day:

H

D - E - B - J - GC
/
IF

And note that no matter what order you pick for the first three days, E has three days going in front of it, and so E has to be on the fourth day, so the answer is (A). IF, D, and H all have to be hired before E. Hope this helps!

Sorry, don't know how it was erased, but in case it's not clear H is supposed to be connected to D like

H

D
