Answers C & E
Hello!
I ended up choosing answer choice C, but E was tricky to eliminate at first. Is E incorrect because nowhere in the passage does it explicitly state that men are responsible for the problems working mothers face?
Also,I was having a hard time figuring out why C was the right answer. Do lines 20-24 support C ("Even in families where both parents work, cultural pressures are traditionally much greater on mothers than on fathers to bear the primary child-rearing responsibilities")?
Thank you in advance for the help!

(E) says, "They are responsible for many of the problems of working mothers because of their insistence on traditional roles in the family."
The problem is the labor and market culture; it's not men demanding that their own families follow traditional rules, so we can get rid of (E). Your thoughts on (E) are on the money.
(C) says, "They are shielded by the traditional allocation of family roles from many of the pressures associated with child-rearing responsibilities."
The author does agree that the culture pressure generally forces and influences women to the main caregiver for child-rearing. Yes, lines 20-24 support (C), and this is why it's the correct answer choice.
Keep up the good work, and let us know if you have any questions!
