Difference between (B) and (E)

I do understand why the answer is (E) but answer choice (B) is what hung me up, because the argument DOES refute the established finding cited. However, the arguments does go on to refute that claim. So can I get a further explanation on why the answer cannot be (B)?

@anthony,

Researcher is telling us that the rate of psychological problems is higher among children of divorced parents. But it is wrong to conclude that these problems are due to A because alternative explanation B is equally valid.

(B) is wrong because the argument is not trying to refute the claim that the rate of psychological problems is higher among this group of children, rather that the CAUSE of these problems is the difficulty adjusting to the divorce. It is undisputed that the rate is higher, but the argument provides an alternative explanation as to why.

Does this make sense?
