(E)

Hi LSAT Max, Originally I chose (C), but ended up switching my answer to (E). Can someone explain why (E) would be eliminated? I think "greater concentration of barite" in line 50 initially made me change my answer. Thanks!

@Julie,

Line 50 tells us that OBMs contain higher concentrations of barite compared to WBMs, meaning that availability of barite or lack thereof might negatively impact the use of OBMs but we cannot infer that limitless availability of barite alone would be sufficient to increase the use of OBMs as (E) implies. (C) tells us that oil reserves are mostly deep sited, which combined with the information from the passage (line 47, for deeper wells, OBM is normally used), allows us to conclude that the use of OBMs will increase in the future.

Does this help?
