Answer Explanation

Hi LSAT Max, I just gave up at this point. I chose (A) because I saw the word "multiphase" being used somewhere in the passage. Why is the correct answer correct and where could we find the it in the passage? Many thanks in advance for the help!

@Julie,

Lines 1-4 tell us that "oil ...the companies extract from the ocean floor has to be processed before pumps can be used to move [crude oil] onshore. The passage proceeds by describing challenges associated with moving unprocessed oil onshore and ongoing research efforts aimed at eliminating the need for offshore processing, suggesting that the current technology requires offshore processing before crude can be moved.

Does this make sense?

Let me know if you have any further questions.

thank you for directing me to lines 1-4! Answer choice (D) makes much more sense now, thanks again!

Hello! I had a difficult time deciding which one was correct (A) or (D). I know the passage started off by explaining that crude oil must be processed before being moved to shore, but then it ends by saying "Other researchers are looking at ways... so that crude could be moved directly from sea bottom to processing facilities onshore..." (line 52-55). Because of this piece of info I thought maybe crude oil doesn't need to be processed beforehand. So I then chose (A) since there was no info stating soild, liquid and gas had to be separated.

How to know what can be assumed as 'necessitated'?

Thank you for your help!
