A vs C

When answering this question, I was able to eliminate answer choices B, D, and E but was stuck between A and C. Can you explain why C is incorrect?

@megmcdermott,

The passage tells us that we can learn about the past based on the current data but the more distinct the past is, the harder it is to make inferences from the present data. (A) is a more accurate representation of this principle than (C) for several reasons: (1) the passage talks about distance in terms of time whereas (C) talks about distance in terms of perspective; (2) the passage says the current data can be rich in clues not that one must study current data to learn about the past as opposed to (C) saying "one NEEDS to understand the author's worldview.," (3) the passage talks about talks about learning/ understanding, whereas (C) talks about appreciation, which is not necessarily the same.

Does this make sense?

Let me know if you have any further questions.
