Let's look at (A).

(A) says, "There has been a dramatic increase over the past 20 years
in the percentage of people who tell polltakers that television is
their primary source of information about current events."

The problem with (A) is that if people are getting their news
information from television, this would actually strengthen the
argument, rather than weaken it, as it would help support why there's
been a decline in newspaper reading. Thus, we can get rid of this
answer choice.

My thought process was that if more people are using television as their main news outlet that would explain why there's a decrease in newspaper reading. I saw this as an alternative to why newspapers aren't being read. Im still having a difficult time grasping why this is incorrect.
