Why is answer (A) correct?

I read the previous discussion with the explanation of each answer choice but didn't get why (A) weakened the argument. In my opinion, it strengthens it since "middle class" is an "elsewhere cause." Can anybody, please, explain to me what I am missing? Thanks!

I need a reply as to why answer A does not strengthen. I took it as strengthening the argument as well.
