Game Set up

Is there a better way to set up this game? it seems very abstract.

@lowe1sl,

This game is fairly abstract and it is one of the older games, so you are unlikely to see a similar setup on my recent tests. That being said, it is easier to focus on limiting factors for the setup - we have six cities, three countries visited over 14 days. At least 1 city must be visited in each country, and at least 2 days must be spent in each city. So at most we can have 2 cities visited for more than 2 days - 2 2 2 2 3 3 or just one visited for more than 2 days 2 2 2 2 2 4.

I would use countries as your base for the setup and indicate a minimum number of cities and days per city:

14 days
6 cities

2
X: __
2
Y: __
2
Z: __

Then the question asks if H visits 4 cities in countries X & Y, what's the greatest number of days she can spend in Y?

So we want to maximize the number of cities and days she visits in Y, meaning she must visit one city in X, three cities in Y, and two cities in X, and spend the minimum number of days in all cities but the ones in Y.

X: 2
Y: 2 3 3 or 2 2 4
Z: 2 2

From out previous inference, we can see that at most two cities could have 3 day visits or one city a 4 day visit, so the most number of days H could spend in Y is 8.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

For this question, I don't understand how Hannah can spend 2 days in Country Z, when the minimum number of days is 2 days per city.
