Solitary Passages Questions - - Question 7

Which one of the following statements would most appropriately continue the discussion at the end of the passage?

Not clear on A as correct answer

I didn't get this last question. I understand why the others are wrong but I still don't get why A is right. I eliminated option A because of the word "enjoy" in the statement, "At the same time, most men will remain better able to ENJOY the career and salary opportunities offered by the labor market." I thought that was strong language and reflective of a tone that I did not see represented in the passage. The passage never talked about how men felt in general about their career and salary opportunities in relation to being a working parent. It seemed like saying men enjoying the career and salary opportunities was an assumption that I did not see supported in the tone of the passage, nor in its content.

I guess they meant "enjoy" as to benefit from. I rarely use that definition of enjoy so it went over my head as I went through the choices.

@nizhoni You're doing a great job of being aware of inconsistencies and assumptions, but you're exactly right. In this case, the term "enjoy" the opportunities is used to mean "benefit from" rather than "elicit happiness." Given the context of the sentence, this is just a unique use of the word, not an assumption. If this application of the word were to make you uneasy about choosing A, using the process of elimination that you mentioned is a good way to confirm your choice.
