Is there a certain amount of times that you need to use the grades? or does it not matter because it doesn't say that he gets "each grade at least once." Please let me know.

There is not a certain amount of times that each grade must be used. Some grades may not be given at all. We are only constrained by the given rules.

It's smart to look out for a phrase like "each grade at least once," but there is no such condition in this problem.
