Why not C?

Can someone answer this please? I see someone else asked quite some time ago. I chose C as well and want to be clear on the reasoning here. Thanks in advance!

The issue with (C) is that it is irrelevant to the argument. The argument specifically talks about "middle ear infections in children infected with the virus are treated with antibiotics," thus any information about children with middle ear infections not infected with the virus is out of scope.
