Why does depends indicate a necessary premise.

If something depends on something else (i.e, A depends on B) then shouldn't B have to be true for A to be true?

That's correct, and that is the definition of a necessary condition. It must be true for an outcome to occur but it cannot guarantee the outcome, unlike the sufficient condition.

So how do I tell the different between must be true and strengthen. I haven't gotten to that section yet in the course, and I find it difficult to distinguish between these two
