Need clarification on Answer Choice C

@Mehran, I need some clarification. Correct me if I am wrong. C is incorrect primarily because it assumes that "any architect" with a strong personality cannot produce buildings that function well for the public. If the terminology was instead "a modern architect", would this phrasing make the answer choice correct?

@mak16153 I'm happy to clarify!

You're on the right track. (C) is incorrect because it assumes that an architect with a strong personality can NEVER produce a functional building. This is too far-reaching of a statement to be supported by the passage. The phrasing "a modern architect" (as you proposed), "any architect" (as you interpreted the answer choice to say), and "an architect" (as the answer choice states) all have the same meaning in that they apply to all architects in that category. Therefore, they each make the answer choice incorrect. However, if the terminology was instead "an architect with a strong personality THAT TAKES OVER THEIR WORK cannot produce buildings that function well for the public," then the answer choice could be correct. The key here is clarifying that the architect(s) in question does not set aside their strong personality and conduct work unaffected by it.

Does that make sense? Please let us know if you have any other questions!

Yes. That makes much more sense. Thank you!

Ya know what? After doing so many practice tests and lessons, when I went back and re-read this question, answer choice B stood out like a sore thumb. I have no idea why I chose C! It's amazing what practice can do! Thank you for the explanation though.
