I'm not sure if this would help with the explanation or not, but you can pick C immediately without having to eliminate D, and E because you have three lizards. You can't co-house different species and you can only have up to 2 reptiles per exhibit. There has to be a single-lizard living by himself or herself.

I think this question is misleading because it refers to the entire question itself and says that either one of the snakes is male, which is true, and at least one of the lizards is male, also true...? Am I the only one thrown off by the question itself?
