why is a) the correct answer?
Hi there,
The video explanation is somewhat confusing.
The answer is a)...however, can you please help me get to that conclusion?
The rules state that she must spend at least 2 days in each city that she visits. This is a minimum amount of time in one city. Why is it that she cannot spend 4 days in two cities if she must spend a minimum of 2 days in each city.
Please help clarify.
thanks,
Rick

We are told that Hannah visits a total of 6 cities, and spends at least 2 days in each of them. If Hannah spends 8 days in country X visiting exactly 2 cities, then that means she only has 6 days left to travel in other countries. If she spends the minimum amount of time in each of these country's cities in her remaining 6 days, she would spend 2 days per city. This would result in her only being able to see 3 other cities. Therefore, Hannah would only have time to visit 5 cities in her 14 days, but the setup says she needs to visit six. So, (A) cannot be true and is the correct answer.
As a recap, here's a possible breakdown: Days 1-8 = 2 cities in country X Days 9-10 = 1 city in Y Days 11-12= 1 city in Z Days 13-14= 1 city in Y or Z Total = only 5 cities in 14 days
