Choice (A) ?
Hi LSAT Max,
After re-reading the passage, I understand why the answer choice is (C) but could you explain why we would eliminate (A)?
Greatly appreciated!

I think answer choice A is an interesting one to examine. Not because it is particularly difficult or tricky, but it does provide good insight into how to eliminate future incorrect main point answer choices.
Answer choice A states that the two groups mistakenly thought that they shared a common political vocabulary. This is never explicitly supported. All we know is that the colonials thought their political tradition stems from that of the English and is perhaps more loyal to it than the English themselves. But we do not know that the English thought they shared a common political vocabulary. So this fails the check of making sure this is at least supported by the passage.
Furthermore, even if it was supported, it wouldn't be the "main point" of the passage. The idea that they thought a common political vocabulary was not what this passage revolved around.
Why I said this was insightful is because it shows that in order to be a main point of a passage, an answer choice both has to be true and capture the main idea(s) presented in the passage.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions!
