Why not E?

I was stuck between the correct answer choice and E. I liked that this answer choice mentioned the language in which the document s were written since the text mentioned vernacular. Is this incorrect because the statement was too broad?

Hi @Tex1610,

Good job narrowing down the answer choices! Answer choice (E) is tricky because of the references to language, but it is ultimately incorrect because it misses the main point of the argument. The documents were not necessarily inaccessible because of language barriers, but because the elite did not allow others to access the texts. The sentence which follows the one being asked about (lines 51-54) is about the fact that the church resisted translations, not that translations were needed. This shows a powerful actor resisting letting others access important documents.

Answer choice (B) on the other hand is correct because it provides a broad overview of what the sentence is doing. The analogy tells us that it was not just law books, but also the bible, that were not necessarily accessible to the public.
