@Jordan-Ceasar, happy to help.

The main point of this passage is expressed in the first two sentences - "There is no mystery as to why figurative painting revived in the late 1970s. People want to look at recognizable images." The rest of the passage elaborates on why this is the case, thereby supporting the claim made in the first two sentences. (E) "the artistic preferences of the art viewing public stimulated the revival" is a summary of the point made in these sentences, so it is correct.

(B) "the art viewing public wished to see traditional subjects treated in a nontraditional manner" is incorrect for two reasons. First, it is too specific to capture the overall claim of the passage. Secondly, the description of figurative painting as "recognizable," "realistic," and a depiction of "the viewers and their world" suggests that figurative painting used traditional subjects in a traditional manner and was nonetheless successfully revived by the viewing public.

Does that make sense? Please let us know if you have any other questions!

Correct me if I'm wrong , but, I thought that main point questions cannot contain words or synonyms that are not stated in the passage. For e.x. with the usage of the word (revival), nothing in the texts really indicates anything about a revival, how are we supposed to adopt this answer which seems misleading ?
