Language

I noticed that the language in answer choices A, D, and E does not match the language used in the stimulus because the stimulus used language like "all' while the answers used "some" or "sometimes" that is why I knew they were wrong. Is this the correct way of thinking and something I should continue to look out for?

@annetr0712,

Absolutely! This is a great observation to make in Parallel Reasoning and Flawed Parallel Reasoning questions.

This is because "all" as used in the passage would be diagrammed as an S->N statement, whereas "some" as used in (D) would be diagrammed as a quantifier. These are two distinct types of statements with very different logical implications.

Nevertheless, you should still read each of the answer choices carefully. We are asked to select the answer choice that "most closely parallels" the passage, so it is possible that an answer choice that is similar in every way except for using "some" where the passage uses "all" could be the best option in comparison to other options that are farther off.

Essentially, this is definitely something you should continue to look out for, but do not rely on it solely.

Does that make sense? Please let us know if you have any other questions!
