Question #14

How is it that D & E are possible? McNeil and Owens are in the same position which I understand. However, I see only 2 spaces to the left. What am I missing?

Hello @khoward,

Focus on the sequencing chain that was drawn on the right side. By "same position," I assume that you mean that O and M each must have joined the firm after a minimum of two people.

H - N - O
and
K - J - M

Remember that this is only the minimum! O and M could also have three people ahead of them, which would place them in 1964.

Consider this:

H K J M N O G I

This is just an example, but do you see that M is in the 4th spot (1964)?
Are any rules broken here? No, because H is still before N and N is before O.

I can do something similar and put O in the 4th spot.

K H N O J M G I

Any rules broken? No, because K is before J and J is before M.
