Hi @Anusha-Ramjattan,

Happy to help!

We know that there has been a decrease in the incidence of ski injuries that occurred on the slopes at ski resorts.

In 1950, 9 out of every 1,000 skiers were injured on the slopes. In 1980, this number dropped to 3 out of every 1,000 skiers.

We also know that the remainder of ski-related injuries increased from 10% in 1950 to 25% in 1980. This increase is likely due to the decrease in injuries which occurred on the slopes.

Answer choice (D) is incorrect because there is no information provided in the passage regarding the total number of skiers in the given years. The change in percentage of injuries is likely due to the decrease in injuries which occurred on the slopes.

Answer choice (B) is correct because the passage provides us with direct evidence to the contrary. A skier was actually more likely to be injured on the slopes in 1950 (0.9% chance) as compared to 1980 (0.3% chance).

Hope this is helpful! Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Why is the answer not A? The answer directly contradicts the passage by saying that that injuries were greater on the slopes in 1980 than ion 1950? The passage states that people were less likley to get injured in 1980 than in 1950 on the slopes?

I would also like to know why the answer is not A. This answer seems to directly contradict the passage.

I would also like to know why A is incorrect.

Why is the answer here not A?

We actually don't have any information in the stimulus that will allow us to determine the number of ski injuries whether they be on the slopes or not because we only were provided percentages and proportions. The percentage of non-slope injuries did increase from 10 to 25% between 1950 and 1980 but that tells us nothing about the actual number of injuries. Perhaps they stayed the same or even increased during that interval. We just don't know.
