Why not E
I understand why E is correct but I chose B cuz I read "Even Alexis de Tocqueville who recognized the signicant comparatibility of the 2 nations, never compared their systems of servitude, despite his interest in US slavery." Isn't it true that AdT recognized the essential comparibility of Russia or the US? Or this answer is too broad because the passage means that AdT only recognized the comparibility between 2 nations' slavery?

I'm not sure where you are seeing E as the correct answer, because I chose B as well. I'm looking at Prep Test 14, and the review feature says that B is correct.
In the first paragraph, the author suggests that Alexis de Tocqueville was among the many historians that failed to draw a connection between serfdom and slavery. It seems that you also found support for answer choice B here.
The problem with E is that we do not know if many modern historians recognized the similarities between American slavery and Russian serfdom. We can only say that de Tocqueville did, but there is not information about anyone else.

I'm confused at where the author suggests that "Alexis de Tocqueville was among the many historians that failed to draw a connection between serfdom and slavery" when I read "until recently..." I thought the author meant that modern historians are no longer failing to make this connection. Should I have instead assumed that the only modern historian comparing serfdom and slavery is Kolchin?

Hi, from the opening, I think we can say that modern historians are beginning to make this connection. While I don't think we know anything really about modern historians other than Kolchin, and it is indeed possible that Kolchin is the only one.
