@Reina, happy to help!

The question asks which topic is explicitly mentioned by both passages.

(A) furbearing animals
The first passage mentions "furbearer productivity" in line 12. The second passage mentions "furbearing mammals" in line 56. Therefore, both passages explicitly discuss this concept, so (A) is the correct answer.

(B) glyphosate
The first passage mentions "glyphosate" in line 21, but the second passage never mentions it. Therefore, the concept is not explicitly mentioned in both passages and (B) is incorrect.

(C) the threat purple loosestrife poses to economies
The second passage states "what is threatened by purple loosestrife is the economies" in lines 59-60, but the first passage never mentions this. Therefore, the concept is not explicitly mentioned in both passages and (C) is incorrect.

(D) popular pollution ideologies
The second passage mentions "popular pollution ideologies" in line 45, but the first passage never mentions it. Therefore, the concept is not explicitly mentioned in both passages and (D) is incorrect.

(E) literature on purple loosestrife control
The second passage mentions "purple loosestrife literature" in 36-37, but the first passage never mentions it. Therefore, the concept is not explicitly mentioned in both passages and (E) is incorrect.

Does that make sense? Please let us know if you have any other questions and best of luck with your studies!

Wouldn't line 18-20 "While digging out the plants can temporarily halt their spread, there has been little research on long–term purple loosestrife control" with research being the same as literature, count as a mention?

i have the same question. research and studies are literatures

Hi, I think the passage has telling us there is no literature about about controlling the loosestrife, and while one could attempt to make the connection between a lack of research and there being literature, this would involve bringing in our own assumptions
