Answer choice B stretches what was said in the argument. All we know is that prior to the 17th century, kings had greater power than parliament compared to the 17th and 18th centuries. However, we have no idea how they used this power. Did they go against parliament as a show of power or disregard? Or did they keep in line with parliament, despite not having to, in order to stay united in government?

Flouted means disregarded. This answer choice makes a definite statement about the position of kings versus parliament prior to the 17th century. And this was not supported by the passage.

Where in the passage does it say a king's power was considerably greater? I'm having a hard time understanding why this must be true.
