Striking balance in noticing details in the question passage and answer choices

I understand the flaw in the question, but the reason I did not pick answer choice D is because in the first line, it mentions that the meat stock be well seasoned, but there was no mention of seasoning in the following sentence, so I did not think this was the correct answer, because I thought it did not meet the original necessary condition in the exact same format, which would then be reversed (and not negated). Can you provide guidance on what types of details we should pay more attention to and which ones, like this one for me, can cost me the correct answer?

Hi @ajs,

When you read the stimulus, you can see a difference between the premise and conclusion. Sentence 1 tells us that you need congenial guests + good things to eat and drink. But, the conclusion only tells us that Sylvia only has congenial guests + enough to eat and drink.

Looking at the answer choices:
(D) is correct because it follows the same pattern. Sentence1 tells us that ou need well seasoned stock + fresh ingredients. But, the conclusion only tells us that Arnold has fresh ingredients. So similar to the stimulus, we are told that you need two things for success but only one is there in the end.

I think on this one you may have gotten too lost in reversing and negating. When those don't provide clear answers, sometimes its best to stop and just use regular logic instead of strict formal logic. Here, there were 2 requirements and only 1 was satisfied. Answer D followed that pattern.
