Answer C

Hi! How does answer choice C support the passage? It seems like a big leap to go from inhalers causing "pollen irritation" to inhalers "increasing rate of death." It would seem like there's no connection between the answer and the passage, and thus answer choice C does not support anything. Thank you!

Hi @rebut,

Thanks for the question! It does seem like a bigger jump, but there’s no question that (C) supports the argument. Recall that the argument is basically saying that the cause of increased deaths is the use of bronchial inhalers by asthma suffers to relieve their symptoms. If someone uses a bronchial inhaler and it actually makes their lungs worse off, then it’s definitely more likely that the death rate from asthma would increase. Compare this answer to the correct answer choice, (A), which does nothing to support this argument. (C) definitely provides at least some evidence showing why bronchial inhalers could lead to deaths from asthma.

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any other questions that you might have.
