Which one of the following can be inferred regarding the two proposals discussed in the passage?

I was having a hard time between B and E because I know both hypotheses were given to explain the heat disturbance (hence the polarity reversal) however, I think there is some implication towards the end about the views of these hypotheses in particular the asteroid impact. Could you explain?
