B/C

Can someone please explain why C is incorrect? I was stuck between B and C. I understand B now after reading the other comment threads but what should have stuck out to me immediately when I initially read C to conclude that it was not the correct answer?

Hi @mprezzy,

Thanks for the question! Let’s take a look at the prompt. We’re told that there are new tax reform laws that’ll lower the annual tax burden on low-income taxpayers. Thus, the author concludes, tax reform is in their interest.

We’re looking for something that undermines the conclusion above. Let’s take a look at what (C) tells us. (C) says that low-income taxpayers have consistently voted for political candidates who are strong advocates of tax reform. But even if this is true, the voting interests of this group don’t necessarily tell us what’s actually in their interests. Maybe they are voting against their interests in supporting these candidates. Or maybe they’re voting for these candidates because of other policies, and not because of their opinions on tax reforms. It’s definitely not necessarily true that (C) means that tax reform isn’t in the interest of low-income taxpayers, and so (C) is wrong.

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any other questions that you might have.
