You may view "unless" as meaning "if not"

No one can be at peace unless he has his freedom

We could parse this as meaning "Unless a person has freedom he/she cannot be at peace."
or
"IF a person does NOT have freedom, he/she cannot be at peace."
which would give us
not Freedom --> not at Peace
or its contrapositive
at Peace --> Freedom

We can see that the contrapositive is Answer choice B

Answer choice D would be "If a person did NOT have peace, they MUST have freedom."

That's not what the statement is saying.
