If the Z is in the first spoonful, then which one of the following must be true?

In one of the two scenarios, T is marked in the second spoonful with W being in either the first or second, but couldn't T be in the first spoonful with Z, and W alone in the second spoonful? In other words, shouldn't both T AND W have the flexibility to go in either the first or second spoonful as long as each spoonful has at least one letter?
